This half hardtop for 2007-2018 2-door Jeep Wrangler JKs turns your Jeep into an entirely new vehicle. You get the quietness and security of a hardtop but is easily removed by just one person. A GR8TOPS half hardtop gives you a functional bed for hauling anything from wet hunting gear to a load of mulch, filthy yard tools, wet dogs or really anything you wouldn’t want in the Jeep with you. For those of you who have used the factory freedom panels are are not fond of them, you can now free yourself of them. This 1 piece hardtop DOES NOT use freedom panels. Aside from now not having the frustrating leaking and wind noise problems, you can now sell off your FULL factory hardtop to fund the purchase of your RECRUIT half hardtop purchase.

A custom-engineered bulkhead molded specifically for the JK to separate the cab from the bed with speaker pod enclosures included.
A tinted rear 3 panel sliding window for ventilation and easy bed access gives the Jeep a real truck feel.
No seat legroom is sacrificed — with the Recruit cab installed, the seats slide all the way back and you can generally recline the seats between 2-3 clicks.
If the half hardtop is removed, the OEM soft top or the OEM hardtop still installs easily without removal of the bulkhead.
Bed length after conversion from tailgate to bulkhead is 36″.
The kit comes with the following items:
-Main 1 piece half hardtop (1 piece) with 1 window cutout – standard primer unless otherwise optioned
-lower bulkhead closeout panel that closes out the cab with speaker pod enclosures to relocate your overhead speakers or to install oversized aftermarket speakers up to a 6″ x 9″- in primer
-1 rear sliding metal framed window and necessary mounting screw
INSTALLATION NOTES:
The GR8TOPS JK Recruit half hardtop installs to the jeep body and bulkhead using included standard bolts, nuts and fender washers. The bulkhead is installed using included self tapping sheet metal screws to the wheel wells. The rear ledge fastens to the bulkhead and the body rail using standard bolts and washers.
This hardtop kit consists of two pieces: the hardtop itself and the lower bulkhead panel. The lower bulkhead panel (shown above) should be installed using weatherstrip tape against the body of the Jeep and requires drilling four to six 3/8” holes in the floor and wheel wells of the Jeep for mounting. The bulkhead conforms very well to the wheel wells, but additional sealant may be required to completely seal the bulkhead. We recommend using a urethane based automotive body seam sealer which we also carry. Many customers also permanently seal their bulkhead in place by installing a spray-in bedliner in the bed.
Tops and bulkheads come standard in primer unless otherwise optioned. Please call us for options on automotive color matching on the hard top itself.
This hardtop requires modification of your existing factory rollbar. The top will fit over the front section of your factory roll bar but the rear “kickers” or C-pillars must be removed. The rear mounting point on the rollbar is spot welded and requires drilling out multiple spot welds on the cage for removal. This modification alters the integrity of your factory rollbar. In purchasing the Recruit top, the customer indicates consent to modification of the factory roll bar and accepts responsibility for the modification.
The factory overhead sound bar must be removed to have the hardtop installed. The included speaker pods are bonded/built onto the lower panel. The speaker pod enclosures allow transfer mounting of your existing overhead speakers (or if you choose to upgrade to a slightly larger speaker) into enclosures that are built into the lower bulkhead panel facing the rear of the seat. The overhead soundbar wiring can be rerouted into the bulkhead using all same factory connectors etc. THE SPEAKER POD ENCLOSURES DO NOT INCLUDE NEW SPEAKERS only the blank surface enclosure for you cut new holes for your existing speakers or upgrade to larger size speakers.
The overhead dome light and brake light wiring can be rerouted into the cab with same plugs.

Orders may be picked up at our location but will incur the local 7% South Carolina Sales tax.
This item is oversized and shipped by one of our preferred LTL truck freight carriers. Business address delivery is preferred but not required. Residential Delivery available for additional $75 charge. Customers may also pickup at nearest local LTL Carrier that we use.

GR8TOPS performs full installations in our shop in Lexington, SC. We also have a spray on bedliner system to completely seal and protect the rear (or the full interior) of your Jeep as a part of the installation of your GR8TOPS JK Recruit half hardtop kit. Installations are by appointment only and normally can be completed in 1-2 business days depending on the options requested.
